Description

Who's there? Merlyn, a Barred Owl (Strix varia) and ambassador animal for Sunrise Wildlife Rehabilitation. Merlyn was thought for many years to be a male, but lately has been producing eggs! Raised in captivity, an attempt was made to release Merlyn some years ago, but she had imprinted on humans and kept approaching them. As a result, she was taken in and became an ambassador owl, teaching people about her species and the natural world of North Central Florida!
